I need to lengthen the front pockets on a couple pairs of jeans. I like deep pockets because I don't like to carry a purse. I put a mini wallet in one pocket and my cell phone in the other. The keys can go into either. These jeans have extremely shallow pockets. I'm afraid something is going to fall out. Before I go fumbling along, maybe some of you have a hint or two or three, etc.

I’d imagine on this board you’ll likely get a suggestion to piece a patched block over the pocket!

i have done that also just be sure to add at the right place so that when you sit down that stuff doesnt fall out look at the pocket shape on a pair of pants that you like and trace it

Lots of our med techs seem to be liking the military pockets just about knee height. With a buttoned pocket tab they seem secure.
I think that the snugness or looseness of the pants has a strong bearing on the length of pockets in pants.

The military fatigues my brother gave me when he retired were very good for hiking and back packing. Seemed like everything but sleeping bags could go in all the pockets!!

Might be worth it to look carefully at both these. I also had a pair of comfy pants that allowed my cell to fall out gently on the rug when I was sitting on the royal throne and I often left home without it. Had to get rid of them, I don't want to drive anywhere without my cell handy.

I do like the idea someone had of tracing the pocket from another pair you like and using that for a pattern.

There is a style of "scrub" pants called "Cargo" that have a lot of pockets, one works great for the stethoscope when I don't want to "clunk" someone if its hanging around my neck. They're very similar to other styles of cargo pants and military pants.
