I don't know if you have an Aldi's (discount) Grocery store near you, but this week they have an LED desk lamp w a twisty neck for $12.99. I love mine so much I'm going back to get another one for use by sewing machine too.

Our Costco had these little lamps last year for under $10 Cdn. There were 2 in a pack. I have used it a lot and it is now dimming so will need new batteries to get it brighter. We use them to play cards when camping and also I take to my quilt days as some people don't have as much light in their house as I need. Just read the review and forgot they came with a cable... I should dig it out and see if it makes them brighter again :-) http://products.ottlite.com/p-429-led-book-light.aspx

Years ago I had the original Itty Bitty Book light and I love it for years and years until it finally failed. I have tried several battery operated lights and they are all weak and the light fluctuates on every one of them so battery lights are off my list. I have been looking for a replacement for my IBBL for years.
Chasing Hawk may have found what I want. TFS peace |
Best light ever! So reasonably priced.

The link for the Ikea lamp is the lamp I use for machine sewing. It sits behind my sewing machine. The bendable neck is long enough to reach over my machine and I can focus the light where it's needed. I've had it over 2 years without any problems and the cost was reasonable. The clip on might work for reading in bed.

I have had a few clip on lights over the years, and most of them broke in some way, usually the clip breaks off.
|
I too have one clamped to my headboard too; not the same as the above one, but it has an led light in it and is dimmable, so it can be adjusted and when tired, don't have to "wake yourself up" getting out of bed to turn it off.
|
I should say mine was NOT a clip on; it has and upside down "U" shaped piece that the light is attached to and the U piece just sits over the headboard and is somewhat adjustable. I put a piece of cloth or could use felt on the inside of the U piece so as not to scratch the wood. I've had it for years; I also have one on the guest bedroom headboard.

I hate to post another message. And I don't know if this will go through or not. I found a light like what I have; the only different is mine has a round dial that turns it on and adjusts the light; this one is just on or off, but the rest is the same. Maybe if you keep searching ebay you might find one with the dial. Good luck!
