These shots were taken from my back deck, in two separate mornings.. The rainbow photos came after a sprinkle on July 2nd, and the Grackles ( blue birds) were taken this morning.. so pretty here in eastern Oregon!

I panned for gold in John's Day once... not even fools gold to be found LOL

aneternalpoet 07-09-2010 10:47 AM

John Day, Ore? haha, not much is found there, other than Gold, either, lol... maybe Kimberley is better choice, at least they have awesome peaches to be found!!

What a beautiful rainbow. I'm still looking for that pot of gold. And what a pretty bird. I have never seen one of those. Thanks for sharing.

Our grackles are brown and look more like cowbirds. Does your kind sing? I have heard that some do.

aneternalpoet 07-09-2010 11:43 AM

Pam, This is the first time we have seen these beauties show up on our deck, but as for singing, all I know is I thought the neighbor's 3 cats had captured a big bird, and were killing it.. only to find out, the noise were these blues squawking at the french door window where I stood watching.. so, yea, if squawking was singing, they do it quite loud, and quite well, lol..

still getting the hang of adding more photos to the thread with my previous rainbows, ect.. Hopefully this last rainbow photo will show up, lol.. I am so entirely blessed to live in the Blue Mountains, of eastern Oregon.. we are treated to many beautiful sunsets, and sunrises, as well as other wildlife - deer, elk, mountain lions ( is that a treat, or are we treats for their dinners? me bad  ).
Anyway, enjoy my " backyard" with the following photos!

well, my yard in all its colorful array last fall

Beautiful!

aneternalpoet 07-09-2010 04:38 PM

thanks.. learning to love watching, and waiting with my small digital camera.. so many unexpected blessings to shoot when we just stop, and let ourselves stand still..

annette1952 07-09-2010 04:48 PM

Nice photos. I don't have the patience to sit & wait for unexpected things to happen. I would be in the wrong place anyway! LOL Glad you do so you can bring us these awesome pics. Thanks

How pretty!

Karen, it looks more like a Stellar's Jay. They are so pretty, but noisy. We had three babies hopping around here a couple of years ago. Mom and dad really let you know if you were getting too close!

crawford1219 07-10-2010 04:53 AM

We just had a rainbow the day before yesterday-it was beautiful!

aneternalpoet 07-11-2010 01:11 PM

I was told they were the grackles, but I am not a bird person, so wouldnt know if it were, or weren't.. All I do know for sure is that they make LOTS of noise, and lots of messy white cleanup on the deck!! haha. Either way they are known by, they are pretty blue in color! Makes me wanna create a blue quilt!!

Great pictures! We were laughing at a Jay this morning. He was stashing a peanute in the FAKE flowers I have hanging. ROL!
