I've learned to read the entire auction - especially the terms - and shipping costs - very carefully before bidding.

Overall, my experiences as a buyer were good - I do mind if the seller makes an inaccurate statement.

Yep, I agree with Billy on this one. I would have been rather irritated if I were the seller, and you shouldn't be surprised if they report it to eBay for removal of the neg you left, as well as your non-payment. eBay is not designed to be something where you get to the checkout and change your mind about something. Once you commit to buy, you are obligated to follow through with payment.

i have a 5 day allowance for payment.
I have 546 transactions ~100% positve feedback. i email them to let them know it has been shipped and email them again in a reasonable amount of time, to see if they got it, and if everything is ok with the transaction. I believe in good communication with customers..but some just don't work like that.
i don't think they allow checks anymore ?...you can do it,of course.i don't mind checks or MO's,but prefer paypal.

Alu, i know it was frustrating, but if it is books, maybe they don't have time to answer all emails in a timely manner.
(do they have a big business?) it should of stated when payment was expected. and you should not have bid, if you could not have paid within that aloted time frame.
do they have alot of neg feedback? then you should look at that first before you bid on an item.
if you posted your original message on thier ebay message board..you probably would of been blasted with negative replies.
you need to go through the procedure of retracting the neg you left them. and pay for the books. this should clear it all up. Good Luck! Kim

I think this is beating a dead horse.

They sent me another email, after I sent an apology and re explained and apologized again, and they send me an email that told me "You HAVE to ask questions before you bid." And I'm like, and that gives you the right to rudely ignore the question entirely. I didn't send another message after that... Also, there were only 12 hours left in the bid, and unless they are a night owl, they wouldn't have received the question till after the bid had ended.

I have more pressing matters to think of at the moment... so I need to focus on that and not the pettiness that is this debate. Thanks for everything you guys! I do appreciate you guys being frank with me.

I use ebay for lots of stuff. When you push the confirmation button, it is the same as signing a contract. It doesn't matter if they contact you or not. Also, I think feedback is not given until you have received the item in the mail. You might try to contact the seller and make arrangements to pay them through paypal. That way you are protected. I depend on ebay for lots of my supplies and I enjoy almost all of the sellers. I've only had one who was difficult and he eventually refunded my money. Gwyn
