I'm going to help a friend make a new cover for the front window of her motorhome. We'll be using sunshade material such as what is used for windows here in Arizona to cut down on the sun inside the house.

The question is: What thread should we use to construct this? We're looking for something that will stand up in the heat of the sun.

Any help will be appreciated.

When you say a cover, do you mean an outside blind type cover? If you do, you could try upholstry strength thread, which is a bit stronger and will stand up to wear and tear and sunshine a bit better.

google: sun rot resistant thread

Several sites came up

You might find something that suits your need under that topic

Thank you for your help and suggestions. We are going to use upholstery thread hoping it will be the best way to go. I found sun resistent thread, but it was $139. for a large spool (too much money). The cover will be hung inside using grommets which we will reinforce. So I'm off to Joann's tomorrow so I can use my coupon.

I can't wait till the end of July when our local Joann's will open. Now I have to drive 45 min and end up spending more money than intended cause I'm right in the middle of some nice shopping. Bad for the budget!

Thanks again!
