Looking to buy a basic serger
I want to replace my Pfaff 4872 Coverlock serger. I only use it about 2 or 3 times a year, and I store it in between, because I don't have a lot of room in my sewing room. I never use the Coverlock feature any more. This machine is over 20 years old, and I am looking for a smaller, very basic serger.
I was just looking at a Baby Lock Vibrant 4/3/2 Thread Serger that sells for about $349, and appears to have all the features I want. It is smaller and would be much easier to keep set up in my sewing room. Does anyone here have one, and what do you think of it? |

I have a serger that is even older than yours. I bought another one with bells and whistles, but prefer my basic 3/4 thread Juki MO634DEV. It does a beautiful rolled hem stitch, too. It keeps excellent tension, but threading it is tricky until you learn how. It's small and it's reliable. Good luck!

Love my Brother 1034D. It doesn't have any bells and whistles but it makes a great stitch, and what else do you need a serger to do, right? Current price at Amazon is $199.

I bought a serger from my local dealer. I got a Juki MO-114D.... Sorry I can't remember what I paid for it but have been very pleased so far. I don't do a lot of sergeing but I think it does an awesome job and is not difficult to thread.

I have a Brother DZ1234 serger, https://www.amazon.com/Brother-Desig...r=8-1-fkmrnull . It has many good reviews on Amazon. It has some nice features, like the differential feed and adjustable stitch width, but no fancy bells and whistles. It needs to be threaded manually. I use it to serge quilting fabric before washing, so I use it fairly regularly. I love it.

I love my Brother 1034 D also! Not as large as some of the others but gets the job done with ease!

Hey Everyone,
Thank you so much for your help with my question. I bought the Brother DZ1234 and so far I am super happy with it. Now I have to find a way to get rid of my Pfaff Coverlock 4872 and all my accessories and I will be in great shape. The DZ1234 has a much smaller footprint, and it does a great 4 thread overlock, which is all that I will be using it for. Thanks again for all your help. Julie |
