Looking Forward to Winter

Six beautiful jars of bing cherry jam. Next on the list is honey spiced peaches to be followed by cowboy candy. Apples are drying and almost done

Yummy! Our peach tree got touched by a late frost in the spring so no peaches this year. Curious though, what is cowboy candy?

The blueberries are ripening on my three bushes. I don't think any will make it to canning or the freezer though. I will probably use them up on cereal, in muffins and pancakes. Got my best crop to date this year though. I am happy about that. I had to put nets around the bushes. The birds were eating the green berries! Never had that happen before. They usually know exactly when the berries ripen and I learned one year. So now, netting goes up before they start ripening.

:DWow, I'd call those candies firecrackers!

Please tell me about your apples drying as to how are you doing this. I appreciate your help Thanks in advance

Beautiful! I am afraid to "can". I figure that I would do something wrong and botulism would set in. Just me, I know. Sure wish that I had taken notes watching my late aunt and uncle make the best bread & butter pickles! No one has come close to theirs. Yum!

I LOVE hot pepper jelly, but I'm sure I will like this even more! So glad you posted and supplied the link--it is new to me. YUM!

When I read the post Looking forward to Winter, I thought it was because of the HOT temperatures. I have never done any canning but those items in the jars sure look good. My mother was a lousy cook so my skill are very limited.

I am ready for winter simply so the mosquitoes will be gone. We have a bumper crop in Atlanta this year!

Thank you for the link. For those of you that are new to canning, this would be a great recipe to start with because it has so much vinegar and sugar in it, it is less likely to go bad on you. If you are still nervous about it you can always keep it in the refrigerator.

Yummy!! Slobbering here........

Your food looks ymmy, but why looking forward to winter? It is hot in N Texas, but I swore last winter that I would not complain because I got so bloomin' tired of being cold. froggyintexas
