Looking for help on making pillows out of a zippered jacket

My mom just passed away at 100 years old. She had a fleece jacket that she wore for the past several winters, always refusing to get a new one because she never believed she would live for the next winter. We all tried to get her to wear new ones that we got her. (She was able to walk and get around until the last four weeks of her life). She refused because she was so frugal. It became a family joke. I would like to cut the jacket up and make pillows for each of her four great-grandchildren. The zipper is broken so it can't be used as part of the pillow.
I tried to find instructions online but they all show the buttons or zippers of shirts/jackets as the center of the pillow. Any suggestions on how to cut the jacket up and resew into pillow covers?
Thank you
Mary Ann

I would take it apart open up the sleeves and that should give you fabric for 1 pillow the front can make one and the back you will either have to add fabric or make them small and one may have to be pieced together.

What about using the zipper, but sewing an extra piece of fabric in the middle of the two halves, like it's open with a blouse underneath.

if you're making 4 pillows, you can use the broken zipper as a design element, maybe across the front, or not.
I do memory bears, 4" tall for most people. the smaller size lets me get a lot more bears from one garment. good luck and show us what you do.

You could cut the jacket apart and cut squares. Use the squares as a center for a square in a square block. Use extra fabric that has prints that memorialize your mother or her favorite colors or other garments she wore. If you embroider you could add her name.
