Go to Doctor, Yes! I also used rubbing alcohol to help take the itch away.
Get some Zanfel. Next time you get into poison ivy, wash with the Zanfel. It's good stuff! LoriAnn |
I am sure you will think I am crazy, but slice a cucumber and rub it on all the poison ivy spots. It really helps

I have it REAL bad too. I tried it all. Nothing worked for very long. For a while yesterday it looked like it was going to clear up. Then here is is back with a vengeance. I react bad to drugs so I'm very reluctant to use any. Then this afternoon my dad brought over something he used and got rid of his. I've used it twice so far and I'm not sure if it is gone yet but I'm going to have to keep trying. The stuff Dad brought over was called Zanfel. But I understand that MeanGreen is about the same chemically. It has helped but my PI is a huge gigantic massive blistery crazy go nuts mess - it may take several tubes to get rid of all mine.

I'm sorry, I don't have any solution to your problem, but I just feel this urge to share this story.
When my husband and I bought our house in 1980, there were some trees out back that had to go, so he spent all morning working back there. He didn't bother to come in and use the bathroom, there were trees he had to go, so he went. Guess where he got poison ivy!!??!!! (it's still funny) |
I get that nasty stuff too. A shot is the best thing. Growning up, my grand mother tried everyting on me from white shoe polish, buttermilk, and clorox. Nothing worked very well. The clorox will dry it up some, but in danger of getting infection using it.

Over the counter you can get calamine lotion and apply generously. Also oatmeal baths help with the itch.

My fiance gets poison ivy all the time. He uses Ivy Dry. He says it dries up the poison ivy very quick. You can get it at walmart or the pharmacy.
