I don't have time to quilt during the summer - or the inclination when I do have time. We have a huge yard, 2 gardens and several flower beds so when it's nice, I'm out weeding, de-heading, etc. And on rainy days, it's laundry, housework, baking, going to visit Mom and friends, etc.

Looks like everyone else is still busy quilting so I'm going to read some posts, check out some pictures and know I'll get some ideas for this coming winters projects.

Hope everyone has a good summer!

Hi Cande, i dont do an awful lot in the summer either, but i do get some done. We have a garden too and we camp quite a bit. I take quilting camping, but never get any done, but it is there if i ever get to it.

I don't seem to get as much done in the summer time but not because I garden---I don't like it at all. Maybe I had too much of it growing up on a farm in a big family but I just don't enjoy it. Seems like the summer time is just filled up with other things like swim lessons for DD, garage sale-ing, running here and there, vacations, etc. I do still try to do some though.

I normally spend my summer trying to stay ahead of the lawn and flower beds. This summer I am enjoying sewing. I have the flower beds on maintenance and am graciously letting my husband keep up with the lawn. Let it sew, let it sew, let it sew. I will have to take time in July and August to take care of the hummingbirds. They chose our house as a feeding station on their migration path. I feed 3 gallons of sugar water a day through August when they are moving through. It has been estimated we have 300 + hummingbirds in August.
Enjoy your summer. There is always winter to sew when you can smell that soup cooking through out the house, snow on the ground, wind howling.
Regards, Dorothy

I think you're far from being the only one! Those of us who live in northern climates know we won't be able to enjoy our yards much in winter. So that's when we sew, and in summer we are outside. (At least I am!)

I do various crafts in spurts and generally have several projects going at a given time - right now quilting supplies are taking up the dining room. A few months ago it was scrapbook and/or stamping and a cross stitch Santa is riding around in my car for when I have to sit and wait at my son's activities. Fortunately our garden is now in the weed and harvest phase so the bulk of the work has been done - though I am realizing that I way overplanted the tomatoes... So harvesting those involves entering a small forest of tomato plants. Honestly, I expected to kill several along the way and somehow they survived.

Cheers, K

I live in Florida & it's TOO HOT to do any yardwork in the summer, so that's when I do most of my sewing(or should be if I wasn't on this board all the time, lol)!!! I have to sew year-round, it helps to relieve stress and is so relaxing to me. Besides my DH works & I'm home all day by myself(I'm on disability) except for my furbaby Tia!!

Dorothy, My daughter would probably move in with you to help out with the feeders. she would be in heaven seeing that many hummers.

I'd love to have more hummers, we only get 2 pair each summer but it gets interesting when the babies hatch.

I'll take some pictures when it quit raining but will post them on the general board.
