Lost but found

Sunday after church my dog was barking like crazie like always. I let her out and she went to the corner of the deck and stood. Caught my attention so I went to look and here was a big black fuzzie catapillar!
i thought to keep it for my daughter who home schools, thought a great science project for my grandchildren . Put the catapillar Ina container and gave it leaves and grass and couple of sticks. He was there last night but when I looked this morning I had a catapillar on the lose somewhere on my table hopefully. I keep looking and could not find him thinking I would unfortunately find him in a bad way ( you know what I mean like squish). Found him finally on my 31 bag that is siting on the table on the black handle. I don't know how I found him he blended in sooooo well. Well he is back in his container waiting for my granddaughter's butterfly cocoon container. Lol. Just thought it was funny and thought you could use a good laughter.

He must have used the stick to make the great escape.:D At least the dog didn't find it in the middle of the night and start barking like crazy.

I think it's funny that your dog was barking at a caterpillar!

I raise Monarch caterpillars that I find on their host plants in my garden. I put them in a fish tank with their plants, and cover the opening with netting to be sure they wouldn't escape. (These wonderful insects can crawl faster than you could say caterpillar when they are looking for a place to make their chrysalis (cocoon for moths). Anyway, one year DH and I came home to find the tank empty. Someone had left a gap in the netting and 6-7of them had escaped. We found some on the fireplace wall, some in the next room, and some were never located. Well, needless to say, two weeks later we were watching t.v. When suddenly a beautiful orange and black beauty flew into our line of vision! We had figured that we had captured them all, but were mistaken. Two more eventually showed up!:o

One year when I was about 12 or 13 one of my younger sibs brought in the cool looking "cocoon" . No one thought anything about it until a few weeks later when hundreds of praying mantis started showing up all over the house.
