Louisville, KY

I will be going to Louisville KY in August for a car show and wonder if anyone lives in that area if they can tell me the important sites to see as most of our time will be spent at the fairgrounds. I may take a day and explore by myself. It would not be my favorite thing to do but I want to at least see the main sites. Thanks for any info you can provide.

Just south of Louisville is Shepherdsville where you will find the Donna Sharp purse and quilted bedding store, the Zappos shoe outlet which goes by another name (6PM or something like that) and a couple of antique stores.

If you are looking for quilt shops, The Cozy Quilter on Shelbyville Road is probably the best we have now. The people are great, and while they do not have a "warehouse" of fabric, they do have a good selection.

For sites, I would go to the Derby Museum, The Whiskey Trail is a good driving tour. In the same area as the Cozy Quilter are several nice antique stores. Have fun and enjoy our town.

I suggest the Louisville Slugger Museum. It's fun to see how baseball bats are made and view some of the old ones.

I am visiting Lexington in October, for the horse racing, and would love to hear all your suggestions for a fun visit to Kentucky :)

If you're going to Lexington the Kentucky Horse Park is a must. In Louisville I sgree Churchill Downs, the Derby Museum and Louisville Slugger are musts. My Old Kentucky Home State Park down the road in Bardstown also.

Yes, Cybrarian the Horse Park is definitely a must !! Been there (gosh) 20 years ago and it was excellent :)
My Aunty lives in Ocala, so from Kentucky down to beautiful Florida, then back to LA, on to Honolulu and all the way home!
I will be noting down all suggestions from this forum, to take with me :)
