lyrics

For the last few weeks, I have been trying to remember a song. I do not know the title or the artist. It may have come out in the 80s. All I know is that it mentioned something about the moonlight over Montego Bay. This seemed to be the chorus of the song but not the title. I tried Google and databases for lyrics but can't find what I'm looking for.

I was having marital troubles at the time and every time I heard the lyrics, I wanted to take off to Montego Bay to get away from it all. It is so surprising to me that I can't remember it because it was kinda 'my song' at that time.

I know this board has helped others with these kinda things so I'm reaching out to you.
Does anyone remember this song?
Thank you.

I think it is called "Jamaica" or close to that.

Maybe it was Kokomo by the Beach Boys .

The name of the song is "Montego Bay", sung by Bobby Bloom. If you go to youtube you can watch him singing it.

No....I have checked out all these. ...not them. Thanks for replying.

Maybe, back then, I was lost in a fantasy world and dreamed the whole thing!!

WOW is right!
If I don't find it there, I definitely did dream it.
Thanks so much. That is a great reference site.

Add the word "song" to your search and you come up with the artist, Bobby Bloom.

it appears that the original song, "montego bay" was done by bobby bloom in the 70s, and was re-released by amazulu in the 80s. merle haggard did another montego bay, but unless there's an older "re-do" around, it might be something from even earlier. the beach boys did "kokomo" for "cocktail" in the 80s--and it was about the bay, which is mentioned in the chorus of that song. there are a few rap and reggae songs that include "montego bay", but they are a little raw.

sorry--probably no more info than you already had. i'll keep my ears open...

Do you remember any of the other word sequences?

katesnanna 08-13-2013 06:49 AM

Just listened to the Bobby Bloom song. That's the one I remember. Love tripping down memory lane.

Quiltbeagle 08-13-2013 09:06 AM

Tapper, can you narrow it down to a genre? Do you remember if it was a rock, country, easy listening, or a pop station that played it...and could it possibly have been Martinique Bay and not Montego?

Thanks to everyone to took the time to help me.
I am making my way through the list posted by Easy Peezy.

I think Jamaican in the moon light. Sandy beaches drinking rum every night. We got no money, mama, but we can go.
