I LOVE Jacobean designs, but don't think I want to be tied to the emb machine for a K size quilt ( that's what we would need). But I would never tire of admiring the embroidery. Maybe I'll just bookmark this page/ your blocks and visit when I need a fix. That is some beautiful StitchEra!

Beautiful work! You have the stablizing down pat on this project! This will be one beautiful quilt.

shasta5718 06-18-2014 06:18 AM

Very nice. Are these from the embroidery library? They have such beautiful designs. Be sure and post the quilt when it's finished.

Barb in Louisiana 06-18-2014 07:13 AM

I am a fan of Jacobean embroidery. I love your blocks. Please let us know the pattern name and designer.

Edited to add: Found them. It appears you have to buy each pattern individually. This link will lead you to one of the designs.

We need a "machine embroidery" category on this site. I love these

Kimkankwilt 06-18-2014 08:26 AM

Those are very pretty. What embroidery machine do you use?? I'm looking to upgrade. Thanks.

nwm50 06-18-2014 09:11 AM

Wow,,, love those blocks! Takes a lot of threads? What was it embroidery from?

IBQUILTIN 06-18-2014 09:49 AM

Takes me to another time and place. Beautiful work

onemoe 06-18-2014 10:23 AM

I have a Janome MC11000SE. with this machine you just need your hoops

lfstamper 06-18-2014 10:24 AM

WOW - beautiful designs. Thanks for sharing.

Suz 06-18-2014 10:42 AM

I, too, am a lover of Jacobean. Your blocks are beautiful. I am not fond of birds in the house, but yours are BIRDS!!! Just spectacular. I hope you have a secondary machine on hand to keep you busy while one of the designs is running. I know there are lot of ups and downs when you have to change thread so often.

What is the color of the background? And is the fabric a sateen? Great choices. What machine are you using? Thanks for sharing and be sure to let us see the finished quilt as I want to see what you will use on the borders.

Auntevie 06-18-2014 11:06 AM

Really beautiful! I can't wait to see it all finished. I don't really quite have a grasp on machine embroidery yet as I just learning it now. So if this is a stupid question...sorry! But does the cutaway stabilizer soften in the wash so you can't tell it's there in the quilt?

IMO.....If it is a lightweight, it will soften some. The heavyweight...NO.

I used Yahoo and searched for embroidery stabilizer guide

Who'd have thought there was such great info on so many sites? These are just a few I took time to look at. I need to read all these sites and make a handy dandy reference guide for myself. Now, when do I start that new project??? lol

Beautiful embroidery.

mcar 06-18-2014 03:26 PM

Reminds me of my hand stitching days except these patterns have very close stitching with very fine thread that could not be achieved by hand stitching. So truly beautiful. This work could become addictive and applied to decorating centers or edges of many quilt projects. Am thinking of The Gypsy Wife quilt with a variety of squares enriched with stitches and various colors. You have developed a lovely skill.

Billi 06-19-2014 03:50 AM

Those are beautiful. I didn't think embordory would interest me whiten I bought my machine. :-( now I wish I had purchased the one with the embordory capability.

mojo11 06-19-2014 05:48 AM

Beautiful. I love Jacobean patterns. Am still in the process of hand applique by Pat Campbell's patterns. Yours in very pretty.

linmid 06-19-2014 06:39 AM

I would never have thought to use denim for such beautiful designs. Where did you get your designs? It will be a beautiful quilt.

mermaid, my sewing and embroidery machine are sitting in an L-shape so I can sew a quilt while I am embroiderying.

nannyrick 06-19-2014 06:47 AM

Those are gorgeous!!!! I love Jacobean.

onemoe 06-19-2014 08:53 AM

fabric is beige denim. heavy embroidery needs stronger fabric. have a Janome MC11000SE which you only need the hoops. easiest machine to embroidery with

onemoe 06-19-2014 08:56 AM

embroidery library has sections on how to embroider on many items

solstice3 06-19-2014 11:14 AM

Gorgeous work.

csharp 06-19-2014 05:10 PM

Love this, but sometimes I don't have the patience needed to keep changing thread colors...this would certainly be worth it. Thanks for sharing.

Don't really understand this statement of you just need your hoops, You need your hoops with any embroidery machine. What is it that you don't need with a janome that you would another embroidery machine

Suz 06-29-2014 06:40 AM

I am interested in learning about THE GYPSY WIFE QUILT. Is there a link to its design? Just interested in the name having never seen or heard of it before.

pollio1940 06-29-2014 06:57 AM

Hi Suz, pollio1940 here . I just did a search on Google and it pulled up lots of images. You could search from there.
The pics are inspiring.

Quilty-Louise 06-29-2014 06:59 AM

We have tried for YEARS to get them to put up a place for those of
us who also do machine embroidery.

The one time I asked PatriceJ I was simply told NO. Without an
explanation or anything else.

Heard that MANY others were told the same thing.

But there IS a post that if not posted to all the time ends up MANY
pages back.

Here is a link to the MACHINE EMBROIDERY thread that we
currently use there are 2721 posts to read.

pollio1940. Thanks for the suggestion. I looked also and found several interesting quilts. Looks like the blocks are all leftover blocks of different sizes which were worked into one end of the quilt. Unfortunately, I do not have a lot of extra blocks and to make them just for this quilt is not in my liking. Interesting quilt though. Thanks again.
