Machine Embroidery
1 Attachment(s)
Anyone here into machine embroidery? I 'think' I've attached a pic. I love 'In The Hoop' (ITH) designs like this one from Embroidery Garden. Am looking for more if anyone knows of any. Thanks!

I actually own two embroidery machines. In the past I used them at least weekly. The first I purchased almost 20 years ago. I am a full bosumed mature woman and everything I eat seems to land right there. The majority of the embroidery I have done in the last several years is on the front of my tops to help hide stains that just wouldn't come out. I also decorate T shirts and sweat shirts as family gifts. I did make a queen size quilt for my own bed with all blocks that I embroidered with my machine. I haven't tried any of the projects like the one you posted. I do own a large collection of design cards and CDs, many of which I haven't even got around to using. I also have a huge collection of embroidery threads.

There's an entire thread of QB members who machine embroider. You would probably enjoy reading their posts. I love your owl!

I do machine embroidery and have lots of designs for In The Hoop. I have gotten most of them from
www.smartneedle.com They have very whimsical designs you might enjoy. Be sure to look for their free ones. Send PM and we can maybe discuss a trade. |
Also Embroidery Library has great designs and sales all the time :)

I also do machine embroidery but haven't tried any ITH designs yet. There are many, many designs on different embroidery groups. The ones mentioned are great. There's also more...just google "In the Hoop Designs" and you will find plenty!! Probably more than you ever knew existed!!

Where might one find this thread -- I haven't done much machine embroidery since getting so involved in quilting. This might give me a nudge.

It's in this same thread, titled "Embroidery Machines Let's Chat and Have Fun". It moves around depending on when people respond to a post.

I love machine embroidery and have done several ITH designs. There is a site called cuteembroidery.com that I get lots of free embroidery designs including ITH...one very similar to your owl design. Check it out, I think you'll like it!

Thanks to Ccorazone for the wonderful site info. Definitely requires more looking at another day.

I love my Babylock embroidery machine, I use Embroidery Library, amazing designs, e-bay. thanks for the example
I like it, I have not done in the hoop, looks good. I will have to look it up. I should also look into a blog or something, do we have one on this site? Like to see projects. thanks again! |
I like oregonpatchworks.com. Jackie had daily specials, some of them 50-70% off. She represents a lot of designers, perhaps 50. Often you will find a freebee. I go there first when looking.

Among a whole slue of design places - I like that cuteembroidery place, too. There is a lady there that digitized several sets in a "ripple" design - I haven't stitched them out yet - but they look fabulous! Haven't tried anything "in the hoop" yet but it is on my list! Designs are getting to be so open and fun.

In addition to the other sites that have been mentioned, Five Star Fonts also offers some cute ITH designs -- http://fivestarfonts.com/in-the-hoop/cat_17.html. If you "like" them on Facebook, you can get additional free designs. Enjoy!!

I enjoy machine embroidery too. Sometimes it is a nice change of pace from the quilting. Today I am trying a new project-a ring bearer pillow. I'll let you know how it goes. It's my first time embroidering on satin! I love the websites mentioned above. Also try Secrets of Embroidery at http://www.secretsof.com

emblibrary.com has lots of them. They make life so much easier doing them all in the hoop. There are lots of people on here that do embroidery for quilting and for lots of other projects. We've even asked for our own link but was told no. I made a coin purse designed by our emb club teacher with the zipper and my initial on it. Lots of fun. Yours is cute.

I've been wondering about these ITH designs with a zipper. Does it really save time? It looks like more trouble than it's worth. How long would you say it takes to make one of these little zip things?
