well i finally sewed my bench pad cover today. I got some fairly stiff decorator fabric. used a 24 inch zipper on one long side. mistake! the foam pad wouldn't slide inside easily at all. i finally had to cut the foam in two sections. stuff each section in and then make the cut ends meet.
that is green foam and it doesn't bend easily. it's getting old so next year i will buy new foam and maybe make a slip case for it out of some slinky fabric to help it slide inside the cover next time. I'm just glad it is done.

When you have that problem put a trash bag over the foam and slide it in then pull bag out

I like these ideas to put silky fabric on the pad first, or using a trash bag.

I have also used the plastic bags for the dry cleaners and put the cushion in and then just slid it out. Saves a lot of frustration.

Very nice job!!!!!

he, he. now ya'll tell me. I don't know why i didn't think of that myself. I know pillow forms go into pillow covers easier that way. oh well, next time!

Thanks for sharing and the tips others have given. I just purchased outdoor material and foam to make one for a bench.
