Make my own backpack-purse?

I'm not a huge purse person. I use Jansport's Half Pint backpack as my purse. (linked here) One think I DON'T like about it is that the straps are a little too short, and it doesn't stay on my shoulder like I like.

Does anyone here have a bright idea on how I can reproduce this bag?

If you like the pattern, I would just make the straps a little longer. Would that work? I am sorry , i thought you made it.

No, the one I use now was purchased. I'm thinking about making my own from now on. I found a cute one I didn't like at first, but thinking about it now, I like it better, but can't find it again.

I found a picture, and tutorial of one I didn't like at first, but got thinking about later and kind of liked. But now, I can't find it again.

It's squares sewn together, diagonally. I think it was 2 blocks, 5, 4, 5, 2 sewn together. Maybe not the 4 in the middle. Anywho, the edges looked like a zig-zag, and the handles attached to the strips of 5. There was a lining and something in the middle. I don't remember if it was interfacing or actual batting.

I don't even remember my search criteria now.

Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Can't remember where but have you looked up free patterns. I made a. Bag from an old shirt for a boy to take books to school.

I've made several like this. I measured the size of the original and drafted a pattern on paper. Cut out the front and back in outer, fusible fleece and lining. I serged these 3 layers together around the edges. Make a gusset that fits all the way around and sew a zipper in. If you need help with specific steps send me a PM
