Try the search function .... I know there were some threads before. Not sure if they included a patterne? or if they were more general.

I guess I need a dog! :)

What I do is just cut off a "tube" with the prettiest part of the bag, adding about three inches at the bottom edge for the bottom of the tote. I sew the base closed, using top stitch thread and a large needle, then I box the bottom

I put duct tape over the seams to reinforce it and finish the seam. Then I just fold the top edge over and sew twill tape around the inside to finish the seam and add handles. Since you cut a tube, there are no side seams. This makes a really quick bag, and gives you a feel for how to handle the material.

Love your avatar.

I just made one last week-end out of a dog food bag. used the instructions from BHGC "Quilts & More", the Fall 2010 issue.

It is really simple. clean your bag. just wipe it or air it out in the sunshine. use webbing in a length adjustable to hang over your shoulders. you can square out the bottom [just like a regular tote, if you wish].

It is an easy, fun project just a 'novelty'. My bag is over sized, the original bag holds over 40 pounds of food.

Curious?
do you take them to the grocery store?
or where/when do you use them?

I am not getting a dog or cat or chickens or ............!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(though would love to have them!)

I got a bag from my DD who has a dog. Now I need to find that pattern too!
In the BHG pattern they suggest using it for storing rolls of holiday wrapping paper or ROLLS OF FABRIC! Bingo...

Very interesting....I just emptied a 20 lb. bird seed bag that would work wonderful for this. Thank you for sharing.
