Absolutely! And I will hold open the door for a man too! Most are caught off guard and try to shoo me in first. I just tell them "It's my turn". They will smile and always say Thank You

Manners seem to be going by the wayside. I DO say thank you....and I say it loudly (maybe others will get the hint). It goes along with this new generation thinking they can text/talk on their cell phones whereever they are, no matter how much they're being rude (don't get me going on this -- 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren last weekend -- not ONE hour without them being on those #$#@#$ phones -- not even when touring the local area).....

Between cell phones texting and computers, xboxes, children are so isolated today. We are growing a generation of recluses.

I wish more people followed the example in the South, and taught children to say Sir and Ma'am. I am always impressed when I hear that down South.

Absolutely I say thank you! And hold doors for men, it's fun. The one that irritates me is when you are going thru a door and the person coming towards you can't even wait until you are thru the door and they try and go past you in the door way!!!?? grrrrr

Used to get really miffed when my DGS at 5 yrs old would hold the door open for mothers and their kids. They'd just sail on thru without even looking!

I just said very loudly "YOU'RE VERY WELCOME!"

Have also been known to say it to adults when I hold the door. Even if you are talking to someone while entering the door, you could smile or something!

I do.

I always do, and my entire family does as well.

Sadiemae 08-23-2011 07:26 AM

Absolutely yes...

I always do and I try to say it with surprise and pleasure in my voice -- because I really do mean it -- not just politeness. Good deeds need to be complimented
