St. Patrick's Day is coming up. It's said we're all Irish on that day, but for those of you who have "the map of Ireland written across your face," do you have anything planned?

I don't know if it's written across my face, but I live here. I generally watch the big parade broadcast from Dublin, as it's usually cold and/or wet on the day. We do have local parades but I prefer to stay indoors and watch the big one. Too bad all our politicians jet off to other (warmer) parts of the world on first class tickets .

I am Irish, but nothing planned as of yet :D:D:D

I'm looking for little men in green suits! lol

My mom makes Corn beef and cabbage. I'll eat the beef but not the cabbage. I make Irish Soda Bread. Yeah, the dinner isn't exactly a traditional meal for the Irish, but it's what we americanized Irish eat! lol I might go out with some friends though, not sure!

So what about everyone else?

Gee, and here I thought that was the traditional Irish meal. Shows what I know. What would the traditiinal Irish meal be?

According to many sites it's what we know and make for st. patties day. But on others it is shepards pie and stews and scones and things of that nature.

I was told by a student ambassador at my friends school (who just so happened to be an Irish hottie straight from Belfast, Ireland) that what we eat is not the tradition in his country. He didn't go into much detail...

:D I am third generation American of (mostly) Irish descent. Every year I bake Irish Soda Bread (Martha Stewart's recipe) and cook corned beef and cabbage in the crockpot all day. This year, I am making 2 Poster Quilts designed by Patrick Lose. One is for us for the door and the other I will send to my cousin back East who has her Irish citizenship. I am working on them today. When they are done, I will post a picture. They are cute.

Corned beef and cabbage and Irish Wheaten bread for dinner. Love Love the wheaten bread we had in Ireland. Scones for breakfast. We usually go out in the evening to a pub.

there are huge parades locally. It's like New Years Day parades in Phila. and NYC. They pain the lines down the middle of the street green.

I stay away- the drinking starts early and it's just an excuse for people to get drunk.

I'm not Irish and don't do anything really- but I have a white scarf with shamrocks on it, if I have to impress a client.
