seriously...I do not understand why folks don't do their homework...a simple search of treadle machines on ebay will tell you what is selling and for how much...these folks are clueless!

But shipping is FREE!!! Roflmao!!! Kookoo for coco puffs!!!

valsma 08-01-2011 07:26 PM

Problem with that is some people think old means valuable. Not always. That one, except color looks like the one my mom used to have right down to the drawers in the cabnet. After she put her back out helping move it she would have given it away. Actually I think she did a few weeks later.

np3 08-01-2011 07:26 PM

I thought it was pick up only?

auntpiggylpn 08-01-2011 07:35 PM

$2,000 and a drawer is missing?

mom-6 08-01-2011 07:39 PM

Guess some people just dream bigger than others. . .

Evidently $2k doesn't go as far as it used to.

:XD:

bjeriann 08-01-2011 07:47 PM

It would have been nice if they would have turned some lights on when taking pictures,

scowlkat 08-01-2011 07:47 PM

Definitely straight out of the funny farm on this one!

alikat110 08-01-2011 08:01 PM

Yeah right....they are dreaming far bigger than my pocket book

They are out of their ever-lovin' mind!!!

sueisallaboutquilts 08-01-2011 09:13 PM

You mean I shouldn't buy it??? And I thought it was a steal........ LOL LOL

earthwalker 08-01-2011 09:23 PM

Not even us Aussies will pay that much!...and you know how expensive they are here.

hudgoddess 08-01-2011 09:27 PM

Didn't someone post an eBay listing last week where someone wanted $100,000 for a quilt-they said they were raising money for college. Who cares? If I spend $100,000, $2,000 or even $20, I want what I'm buying to be worth the amount. What you need or want for it has no bearing on the sale price!
Silly people!

Candace 08-01-2011 09:39 PM

I've been seeing this so much....via ebay and CL and I just don't get it. If you have to post it for 6 months straight on CL and it doesn't sell, doesn't that tell you it's not worth the $700 price tag you've put on it?

BETTY62 08-01-2011 09:39 PM

Wow. Good they think so much of it as they may have it for a while.

Candace 08-01-2011 10:46 PM

For example of what I was saying and what we're all saying, take a look at this!! http://sacramento.craigslist.org/atq/2524478618.html

katesnanna 08-02-2011 12:39 AM

My husband was in real estate and he says "doesn't matter how much you think it's worth, it's only worth what someone is prepared to pay you".

Yup, and with the current economy, they feel someone will pay it

kwhite 08-02-2011 02:39 AM

Wanna make any bets that it sells?

ptquilts 08-02-2011 03:22 AM

yeah, but didn't you see the seller's user ID - "Glorious Antiques" - this is a GLORIOUS antique Singer.

What if we all sent a message through the "Ask a Question" link --

"ARE YOU CRAZY!!!!!!!"

think they would get the point?

Rebecca VLQ 08-02-2011 03:44 AM

"And it WORKS too!!!"

Sheeesh...

Annie68 08-02-2011 04:27 AM

Ridiculous!

amandasgramma 08-02-2011 06:10 AM

Hurry up -- there's only 2 days left to make a bid!!! Would be fun to bid $10.00!!! LOL

Zhillslady 08-02-2011 06:19 AM

I always assume the value of something is only what someone else is willing to pay. I've seen many items on ebay that are more used than buying a new one. Last week I found an out of print quilt book from 2000 that was $67. I don't complain I just don't buy it. The seller ends up paying insertion fees with no sale.

ljptexas 08-02-2011 06:20 AM

That is sooooo funny!!! Some people.....

I've got a treadle I want to sell. Anyone want to give me a $2000.00? How about $1000.00?

Exactly. Kinda like the mask that was just sold on there. Sad and pathetic.
Think I'll go make some quilts for college.

TonnieLoree 08-02-2011 07:00 AM

If the seller finds a buyer, I have a bridge in NYC for sale dirt cheap.

grammiepamie 08-02-2011 08:10 AM

For 2k it better work.

Melrose R 08-02-2011 08:13 AM

Everybody was new to eBay at one time. The lister has made 17 sales/purchases in just over 2 years. They aren't too savvy, that's for sure but I bet they'll catch on. Hopefully! LOL

NanaCsews2 08-04-2011 01:14 PM

I had to tell a couple of quilting friends about this listing. Out of curiosity, one friend emailed the seller. Appears the machine is old. The grandmother is 83 and she is the 2nd owner and has owned it for more than 50 years. The appraisal is $4000. Really? I have never seen them for that much. But I don't see too many of them either. I should add, when DF emailed the seller, she asked if someone famous had owned it for it to be that much. lol

debbieumphress 08-04-2011 01:35 PM

ONe man's jkunk is another man's treaure???? It amazes me to see what people will bid on and pay for some things. Absolutely shocking.

ukmuminusa 08-24-2011 12:14 PM

OMG I just saw one on ebay for $600 and posted a thread about it, I didn't know that this thread was here and now I am even more shocked at the price of this one, some people are just crazy!!!!
