Labor Day weekend I lost my guard dog Mal. He was a Malamute/Golden Retriever mix that weighed over 100 pounds. Well here is the new guard dog. She is a Great Pyrenees. She should be between 100 and 120 pounds. She sure is growing fast.

Lisanne 04-23-2011 07:21 PM

Not exactly fierce looking, but she's adorable! Big change in just 10 days, though.

sueisallaboutquilts 04-23-2011 07:40 PM

She's precious!! :D:D

Is she going to be a guard dog for livestock? A friend of mine has those and they were put in the field with the sheep when they were first brought home as puppies. They were never allowed to socialize or bond with humans--only the sheep so that they would consider themselves part of the herd, I guess. I love puppies too much to not bond with them, so I couldn't do that.

Beautiful puppy. Thank you for sharing. :):):)

What a cutie. I love that sweet face.

quiltgran2 04-24-2011 06:11 AM

A real sweetie. You'll have to show us a pic of her when she's fully grown.

TwinRiverFarm 04-24-2011 06:15 AM

Congratulations and get ready! My GP Gracie is 80 lbs at 6 months, and looks just like Neece. They are such a sweet dog. I have to remind myself that she is just a little puppy in a great big package. Have fun!

CarrieAnne 04-24-2011 06:32 AM

How cute!

Kitsie 04-24-2011 09:14 AM

They are wonderful dogs! My Great P cross is big and black with the body and gentle nature of his purebred Dad.

Enjoy Neece! Congratulations!

She is to be the guard dog for our home and other animals. Her herd will be 2 cats 3 small dogs, 1 medium size dog and 2 humans my Mom and me. My Mom is home most days and works in the yard, and my Mal who was our guard dog we lost labor day weekend keep a great watch on her and helped her. She also has a strange for of virtago and Mal would keep her from falling and when we meet Neese's mom she did the same thing that our Mal did so we knew then that the Great Pyr was for us. The correct spelling of Neese is with an s not a c. I took it from Pyrenees.

Her mom is around a 100 -110 pounds and her dad was around 130 pounds. We are not sure how big she will get yet, since I got the one with the largest head and feet. A friend of mine had a female that got up to 145 pounds. My Mal that she has replaced was over 100 pounds.

Here is a new picture of Neese. She will be 9 weeks on Monday. I let her on the bed at night until it is time to go to her crate, so I can keep an eye on her, but I might have started something, since she may want to get on the bed when full grown.
