One of the reasons I enjoy getting a bit of cash for Christmas! She is 33" tall and there she was in the grocery store all alone between other orchids. Thought I heard a whine...

She or he is so pretty. Surely you need 2 green thumbs to keep it blooming!

I use the beneficial neglect care method! Now all my orchids bloom annually and some twice a year!

So pretty. I was given a Pregnant Onion plant for Christmas. I have no idea why, I tend to kill every plant I touch. It is in a pretty pot so it's on my kitchen window sill. The plant is suppose to pop out baby plants and they sprout and grow and pop out more.

What a gorgeous "pet"! Talk to her nicely (she's a great listener) and she will thrive.

I love your new pet. Glad you brought it home with you. She looks happy
|
Ha, ha. She saw you coming!! very pretty and in a good home.

Kitsi- Your "neglect care" method works well with orchids. My daughter always has beautiful orchids and hers are beautiful (not as giant as yours). She says only water once in a while. With our winters we don't get a lot of sun, and I guess they like that too.

Beautiful pet plant. Love orchids but they tend to only last a few years before dieing.

she's beautiful!!! I've never seen one that big before. I bet she's glad you took her home.
can you show us her again in the future. I'd love to see her blooming again. Just amazing. |

When I first got orchids, I could never get them to bloom a second time, but I just kept them hanging around giving them the advised care religiously. I'm talking about the big leaf ones. Suddenly after 7 YEARS one got the idea and bloomed again! (I only had 2 at that time.) Now I have 7 or 8 and most bloom twice a year! This winter they all have tall stems, but seem to have been stuck for weeks this time! I only water when the pot seems "light" to lift and fertilize the older ones about once a year. So many months of enjoyment when they bloom!
So far I've only had one die. Will post a pic of them all when they finally decide to wake up! Looks like the baby of the family is about to make herself known. Rooster is just all about putting out roots! [QUOTE=Kitsie;7423423]One of the reasons I enjoy getting a bit of cash for Christmas!
