Memorial Service for the Broken Needle in Japan

I thought this was an interesting cultural ceremony in Japan. It is dedicated to the broken needle.

I've never heard of this festival. We lived there for seven years. It is a certainly a land of festivals. I think, there is one for every day of the year. How very interesting.

I agree it is very interesting. It doesn't explain why they use tofu for this .

It is probably used as it is soft and the needles would easily penetrate it.

Hey, I like tofu! You just have to know how to cook it right. ;-)

I think that's a neat festival though - I like how it's focused on not wasting the little things, and paying attention to useful household items. Plus the "no housework" rule is one I can totally get behind!
