I never connected the two, but I'm on Thyroid medicine. since 2000. I still get headaches, but not nearly as bad as previously.

I have a friend that had horrible migraines until she had some allergy testing done, to find out that she's allergic to beef, dairy and citrus. She cut those out and very rarely even has a headache now.

Both my mother and I have migraines but my youngest son gets MIGRAINES. He's been on just about every medication there is. He did get very bad nosebleeds and lost a lot of weight when he was on Topamax. Some of the antidepressant medications have worked better for him. Right now he is on Inderal as a preventative and Excedrin Migraine when he gets a headache. It is really important to keep a headache diary (include when and what you ate, how much sleep you got and what the weather was like) so you and your dr can find out what your triggers are. Lifestyle changes are also important -- keep hydrated, don't get too much or too little sleep, and exercise 30 minutes a day. We've implemented these changes for DS so we will see how they work for him -- we're coming up to fall which is a rough season for his headaches. Just document everything you can think of as it will really help the doc to help you. Good luck.

Those weather fronts are a real stinker. My husband tells me I am better than any barometer. I know when a front is coming through (it's one of my headache triggers especially in combination with any food trigger). I get symapthy pains just thinking about anyone else getting a major migraine.

My doctor gave me an anti-seizure medicine and that has helped my migraines. I had one of the worst ones ever on Sunday morning and took the medicine and within 30 to 45 minutes it was easing up. I find if I don't get up at the same time in the morning I get a migraine so 5:30 it is from now on.

My mom myself and my son all have them. I have had them less as I get older. My son has had them since he was 5. We struggled through school with them. He was sent to a specialist and he told us he had migraines! Duh! We knew that! They put him on maintanence meds but they really didn't help. He is 33 now and he goes to my soninlaw who is a Chiropractor and Ben keeps his neck in place and if Nathan watches his diet and remembers to eat he says he doesn't have them much anymore.

I've had terrible migraines since I was a teenager. The worst part for me was the awful nausea! I tried some of the prescription drugs and nothing really worked, tried the shots and they left me so loopy I would sleep for two days!!! One doc told me to try taking one each of aspirin and acetaminophen (Tylenol) and then chase it down with a caffeinated beverage. It worked! Now they have Excedrine Migraine, made up of aspirin, acetaminophen and caffeine.
