Mixing homespun plaids?

I was going to trim some plaid homespun fabric with another plaid homespun to make some dining room curtains. And then use both with some other pieces to make a runner for the table. I know it's not acceptable to mix plaids in clothing, but what about curtains? I was fine with it until dh gave me a strange look.... I know it looks fun in quilts, but what about curtains?

I think it would work beautifully.

Works great in a country home!! My next bedroom curtains are going to be a blue homespun with a bottom part of smaller check in the same color.

I say they are your curtains and you can make them with whatever you choose. I agree with Newbee3, Who does make all these rules. I have been sewing and quilting most of my life and I still do not understand where they come from.

If you aren't careful people will think you paid a very expensive decorator to do your window treatments.

I like this! :) I figured that if it can be done successfully on a quilt, why not a curtain. The colors are similar and homespun just seems to blend anyway. And the table runner will help keep it pulled together anyway. Thanks for the confidence!
