I use my towels to cushion plastic totes for my fragile items and use hand towels and face cloths to wrap smaller items in. Then I just refold the towels in the new linen closet. My stash goes in clear plastic bins so I can see what colors are in what tubs. |
Someone may have already posted this, I always put a "freshener" of some type in my bags. Dryer sheets, cedar chips, etc.

When we knew we were moving from MN to NM we started collecting apple boxes from the grocery store. Standard size. Even w/full able to move...except the ones packed w/books. Stacked evenly. Labeled every box RE contents. However, when we moved into the house, there were a few boxes labeled STUFF.
|
Fold it in the way it will be stacked after unpacking. Also color coordinate the stacks. I did it that way when I moved and umpacking was a snap./
|
i use it to wrap my breakables with it and the rest can stay in their totes or fit in wherever there is room in a moving box,
|
If you're packing yourself, or paying yourself. use the stash as padding between dishes or collectibles. The glass/special items are wrapped and the stash is taken care of. Could put large plastic bags in the box first to wrap it all in.
could save some money and not have to pay the weight of the paper wrapping they/you would have used. sorry just noticed the duplication of idea |
always have two boxes being filled, and when she's not looking move one out to your car.....jk. med size clear plastic bags so they don't get thrown away!
|
Labeled plastic totes and NO hubby in there while your going through it..lol.. !!
|
Although plastic totes sounds really good (that's what I wanted to do) there is a lot of wasted space. My husband told me but I just knew he didn't know what he was talking about. I hate it when he's right.
How far of a move?? |
Use small pieces as packing for dishes and glassware. It really saves room. And not all the paper to be tossed or recycled. A lot less mess. Just refold the fabric and you are done. :

I allways wrapped my dishes and breakables in my fabrics

They threw plastic storage units aside (and other things), and I ended up with a huge bill from the rental company to "haul those" things away. $$$$
Then, as it turned out, the load was unloaded into storage, until our house was finished, loaded again to finally get here. We thought the house would be finished, but it wasn't for nine weeks. Best laid plans of mice & men... |
When i moved, I labeled the boxes with my stash as cat liter. That way I knew which boxes went in the sewing room, and nobody would let them get rained on. I moved in November so it was raining cats and dogs. I am surrounded by people who just assume my fabric could all go in the dryer, to dry! Ask me how I learned this?
