It is interesting that there has been an enormous increase in the numbers of wild deer all over eastern mid america.
When I was a kid, we never saw a deer, now there are thousands! ...and they love your gardens too! |
We learned last year that sometimes a mother deer will drop off her young in a safe place to rest during the day, she will move on, but return for it. Animal control said not to worry about the fawn, just let it be.

Precious picture.
My guess is that Mama left baby safely hidden under the table while out eating, knew exactly where the baby was & had plans to return. It is usually best not to handle the fawn, as some does will not take them back after fawns have been handled & covered with human scent. I'm glad you got the picture, but I'm especially happy for the fawn that Mama was bold enough to retrieve her baby. Happy day for all. |
What a great picture, I'm surprised the baby would let you hold it. They are so cute - like Bambi.
