If anyone finds a fawn alone, it is usually best to take a "watch and see" approach before disturbing or "rescuing" the baby. The majority of the time the mother will return for her baby. If in doubt, you can always call a wildlife rescue/rehab facility for advice (many hotline numbers can be found online). Obviously, if the fawn is in danger from traffic, dogs or other hazards, you would want to keep it safe. How cool, they are cute! We had a friend that raised one followed them all over and one day he saw his reflection in a window and jumped through the window and was cut up so bad that he didnt live! But they sure enjoyed him while they had him! was a good watch deer! as he would great visitors when they drove up!!

We, too, are fortunate enough to live in the country and the deer trot through everybody's yards like kids - it is so neat so see them bringing a little newborn almost like they want you to meet them. :-)

It wasn't even walking at first. Poor Meg wanted to be "like Audrey Hepburn and have a 'pet' deer". She knows the baby is better off though.....the Sherrif's Dept was a HUGE help.
