My Bird

I just got this at an estate sale. Anyone know who it might be by? I can't read the signature but it's nicely framed. He's my friend now. I saw him yesterday when I was really feeling down and he fit my mood perfectly.

I don't know who the artist is but I really like it. Is it pen and ink or graphite?
|
You've got me there. Not sure but i used to sketch and my son too, so i love it either way.
|
he is an Egret by the way. but can't read the signature very well. sort of does have a see through look to him.

What a cool dude he is!

I can't really tell, but it looks as if it might be an etching. The artist would trace the design onto a sheet of metal called a plate and then put a film of ink over it and the paper would be laid on the ink and the etching would be printed onto the paper. If it is an etching there will be two numbers on the edge with a slash between them. Like this 27/50. That means its the 27th print out of 50. After the last print then the plate would be destroyed. This number system is also on prints.

He is a handsome devil. He looks as though he found a good home.

Best kind of bird to have...entertaining (to look at), but no food, water, or mess! Just think you have a really nifty piece of art!

Lucky you!!! I love birds too. We lived in FL for a short time and I never did learn the correct names of the birds there. Except the Great Blue Heron, 1 of my favorites, they visit us in Iowa during warmer weather and I look forward to them.
