The wallhanging and baby quilt I posted the other day needs to be turned in tomorrow for the auction. I decide that I need some "things" to go with them to make a basket.

I shop for hours looking for baby stuff. I get enough to make my basket using a baby bathtub as a base. A whole bunch of little stuff. It was fun. I havent shopped for a baby in probably 15 years.

Take it home and sit it on the floor upstairs to organize it. There is this very cute stuffed frog which is the centerpiece of the basket since there is a frog in the center of the wallhanging.

I walk away to clip the threads on the quilts. Couple minutes pass. I hear my dog growling and running around like crazy on the main floor. I look down and that #$#$%# dog has my frog by the throat and is shaking it. He tore one of the eyes out.

He never gets into my stuff. You can put a sandwich the end table in the living room and he will not touch it. But if stuff is on floor, it is his and I sat that bathtub on the floor.

Off I go to get another one. How hard can this be? I bought it at Target. It was the last one. Walmart, Target, Walgreens, Buy Buy Baby, even the Dollar Store. Nobody has another stuffed frog in this town or the next one over. Monkeys, dogs, bunnies, dinosaurs, ducks, even polar bears but not a SINGLE frog.

Looks like I know what Im doing on my lunch tomorrow.

I hope that frog is that dog's very best friend because I am not right now!

Oh my! I'm sorry for laughing but that made my day! I can just see it in my mind. I have 2 dogs and 5 cats that have the same issue.

I'm right there with you sister!! I'm taking Judy Neimeyer's Glacier Star class and was paper piecing away. Apparently,
I had dropped a template on the floor and my aussie grabbed it. I thought she was playing with a chew toy and didn't pay attention. She chewed a bunch of holes in it and I don't have an extra template. I am taking it to class tomorrow to tell the teacher "my dog ate my home work". I hope she has an extra one.

Got to love our quilt inspectors

But they are so cute.

running1 02-27-2011 06:57 PM

Believe it or not, my dog actually ate the homework... and I was the teacher!! I'd been out of the classroom for several days prior to my mother's death. When I returned, there were LOTS of papers to grade, so I stayed up late and graded and recorded (thankfully) a ton of homework papers. All the work was neatly piled on the kitchen table when I went to bed, but the next morning, most of the work was all over the kitchen with a few pages chewed to bits by the new Border collie puppy. Who knew the puppy could jump on top of the table AND loved chewing paper? My students got a pretty big kick out of the fact that MY dog ate the homework! That dog never outgrew her love of chewing paper! We live in an older home with a mail slot where the mail is delivered right into the home and we always had to grab the mail before she could get to it. Other than that irritating habit, she was a great dog...

That was a good laugh - for us, I mean! Your dog was just elimiating the competition...

Scrap Happy 02-27-2011 07:45 PM

That is funny but will be funnier later for you. Try calling a hospital gift shop to see if they might have a frog.

me tooooooooo. ha-ha! only because my dog is sitting in my lap right now. otherwise he would be getting into something. like the time he stole my glasses and carried them into the backyard. luckily he only ate the plastic earpiece. sorry about the frog.

what a fun chuckle..... ohhhh nice doggie :)

I'm a retired teacher and one of the best excuses (actually a reason) for homework not being turned in was from a mom who dropped by to say that her son had left his exercise book with the completed homework in it on the stove. She turned on the wrong burner to heat some chicken soup, setting the paper on fire. She panicked and the first thing she could think of to do, was grab the pan of soup and dump it on the burning homework.
She was an honest person, plus that story is so far in left field that you have to believe it.

AnnieH 02-28-2011 12:28 AM

Made me chuckle. Good luck with the frog hunt.
