I have seen where some are complaining about not being able to use the flat rate envelopes to ship fabric. I went to the po to mail using the flat rate padded envelope as here is my conversation with the clerk.

Clerk: You got some of the new envelopes?

Me: Yes and I like them better then the card board ones.

Clerk: Have you heard about the trouble some ppl are having with using the envelopes at some PO's?

Me: Yes I have heard that some are not letting ppl use the flat rate envelope if it is not flat. That it can only have paper in it that won't change the thichness of the envelope.

Clerk: Our Post Master is asking everyone if they have had any problems with packages being returned or rejected. He ordered some of the padded ones and the instructions with them were confusing. He (the postmaster) said that he thinks some of the PO's are miss reading the instructions and that they will still honor the if it fits it ships moto. And that the altering the shape only means you can not cut it up to make it fit what you are trying to ship as long as the envelope is flat (flat being no odd shaped items in it) or misshapened and can be sealed using the provided flaps stickiness. Tape across the flap is fine because some times it doesn't properly seal.

I just thought I would share this with you all. I found it odd that she brought it up with me considering some of you have had problems using these.
If it were me and my package was rejected by the PO I would get the clerks name and file a complaint because they were wrong with what they did.

I agree with you about filing a complaint. I went to the PO and I brougt it up as well and he said the complaints were pouring in about the flat rate envelope.

I suspect that this may be a issue for a while, until every PO is on the same page  :D:D:D
