Oh gosh, Melissa..somehow I missed this. Ben is really really pretty! Well built and I love his rump (I'm a horse rump girl..heeeheee) Already team roping huh? You must be doing something right!

I know the feeling....some days you wanna keep them, some days you can't find them a new home fast enough..LOL. But, they go back into the "home" pasture either way!

Hey Patti!!!

It was Team Sorting. I couldn't throw a rope if my life depended on it!!!! But I have done some hazing with him while hubby and some of his friends team roped.
Ben does have a nice rump, doesnt he!

Oh...sorry..so sorting would be more up my alley too. I've never roped at all but think I'd be lousy at it.

The thing I've always wanted to do and never have it to try reining...We go the gaited horse route though, so doubt if I'll ever do it. One of mine has a lot of cow herding sense though..she does it on her own when I run weanlings in the pasture with her. Now, that is funny to watch!

Reining would be fun!!!! Have you ever rode a cutting horse? Now that is awesome!!! It has been quite awhile since I have done it but would love to again!!!!
The "little" ride I refered to in an earlier post, we were riding here at home in the pasture and he kept jigging and acting stupid then all of a sudden he took the bit in his teeth and away we went!!!! A quarter of a mile at a dead run! Couldnt stop him, couldnt turn him, nothing!!! At one point I saw a tree branch coming, seriously thought about bailing off until I looked down and saw how fast the ground was moving under us!!! So I got laid over as far as I could, still caught the branch across my left ear, bloodied up a little bit. Let me tell you, Mr. Ben got to do a whole bunch of running after that but it was on the end of a lunge line then. He hasnt taken off with me since then!!!!

Good gosh Melissa, that is scary! I've had it happen a few times and almost broken my arm trying to turn them! I've never ridden a cutting horse either, but I would love to. I went the Western Pleasure route and Hunter/Jumper and then DH converted me to Walking horses. I miss my old Quarter Horses, but it is really difficult to ride the 2 together and keep at the same pace.

Glad Mr. Ben learned his lesson!
