Glad to hear your Benny gained a little weight...that HAS to be a good sign! Puddy and the gang and I will keep you and Benny in our thoughts.

I had to do the same thing for my tiny toy poodle...gave him in-home dialysis for over two years. He did better with it than I did! As for diet, my vet just told me to let him eat whatever he would eat...so I did. And I never felt bad that he preferred boiled chicken breast over anything else...and I gave it to him!
I guess my advice is to follow your vet's instructions...and good luck!

Try cooking chicken and rice.....most cats like that.

So sorry about your kitty. Hope you find a solution soon. Sending a prayer for you and your kitty.

We had several cats that got sick. They wouldn't eat so I took little bits of hamburger and mixed it with powdered vitamin C. I force fed 2 cats this way for several days as well as giving them water with an eye dropper. These cats survived and thrived.

I'm so sorry for all the people with sick animals.

I lost an 8 year old cat to kidney disease. She ate KD because that was all that was available to her. She ended up living 8 months past expectations. It's a horrible thing to experience. And, please, know when you take your pet in for the final vet visit, you are doing the right thing. A natural death from the disease is awful.

I am so sorry. I have no idea what to tell you. No cats in our household. Wishing kitty all the best.

Over a year ago we started our cat on the special diets from the vet,( k/d and ? maybe someone has already mentioned it) She won't eat the wet but does eat the two dry products mixed. After two weeks we made the choice to not continue the fluids and she is doing fantastic. There are some days when she doesn't feel well, my heart breaks, but then she perks back up. I haven't read the links or posts yet but good for you for researching options-do what you feel comfortable doing. Lucky Benny, he's gonna get lots more loving now!

I lost 3 cats to kidney disease. It is so painful to watch. My heart goes out to you.

The IV doesn't really do much and my cats loved the KD food.

I will keep you in my prayers, I know what you are going thru.

I so feel for your kitty & for you!! Kidney problems are no fun to deal with. We have had both cats and dogs that have had kidney problems. All of them have been quite elderly, and so have not done too well. The best thing I've been able to give them are huge doses of love, with lots of HUGGS on the side!!!! Sometimes that works as well as anything......... You're in my prayers.
