My little ruler came home

My little ruler came home...I am ecstatic...couldn't find one like it anywhere. Just gave up believing I would ever find it...decided this afternoon to go through some old binders and throw paper copies of stuff away....Picked up one of the binders and out fell my ruler. It was totally empty except for that and some blank sheet protectors. Will never know how it got there. I'd put a GPS tracker on it if I could so I wouldn't lose it again. It has a brand name of June Tailor. I went everywhere in the Google search and still can't find another one so I'll guard this one with my life. I love that it is so plain, uncluttered and simple unlike it's owner that is plainly simple minded and needs a good decluttering. LOL

This comes as a welcome reward after a week of taming the scrap pile..I was thinking while I was cutting the last few...if God stood before me with a tote of scraps and said "I'll trade you one week of your life for this tote." I would have said..."you gotta be kidding me"..(cleaned up my language because it was God)but that's just exactly what I did..funny until you get "senior" you don't think about it that way...Just hope as I sew and quilt I "scrap as I go" and never end up with this mess again...Don't think there is a place in my back that isn't sore or complaining from pushing down on the rotary cutter. I'm such a whiner but I really didn't think it would be as physically demanding as it was..

Anyway...Yea for a HAPPY ENDING!

Glad you found your ruler. I keep mine in a drawer below the sewing machine, and I panic if I can't find it right away!

IshtarsMom 08-25-2014 05:33 PM

Thanks...it's been gone for months!

bearisgray 08-25-2014 05:57 PM

Don't you sort of wish there was a "clapper" device for our favorite quilting tools? :D

Did mine did not run away with yours ? My favorite has been gone about 6 months.

So glad you found it. I have several rulers but one I love the best. When it has trotted off to hide itself under a pile of fabric I really get annoyed with it. Or me.

Caswews 08-26-2014 04:26 AM

Oh goodness I love it when I find "lost" things !

nativetexan 08-26-2014 06:30 AM

and why is it we always remember the next to the last place we put things? Glad your ruler found you!

Stitchit123 08-26-2014 07:53 AM

Sure there are at least a half dozen other 6 inch rulers in arms reach - but they just ain't the same as the 'Favorite'. And we go bat crazy looking for it. I look at these times as a Cardio Workout. Gets the blood pumping and brings up the heart rate. LOL

I understand your pain, I have SIX 1X6" rulers because I use them so much.
Mine are the standard yellow and black and Cottage, black and pink.

Those taylor colors look recent, how long have you had it?

Had it for years! It is clear with distinct markings for quarter inch which makes it perfect. Not much for 1/8 or 1/16..They just clutter up my eyes...does have tiny red markings for 1/8 though but so small it doesn't bother me. Guess they don't make them anymore.

I think Joann's has something similar...glad you found yours

I bought one of those round hangers that you hang templates and rulers on. I got tired of them going here and there and under and in between. I just hang it on a shelf and it's right above my cutting table.

IshtarsMom 08-26-2014 06:27 PM

I think that's a great idea...better than pinning it to my clothes with a safety pin....LOL

I lost the middle size ruler 1/2 inch wide of a three piece set. I searched everywhere and couldn't find it. I talked about it so much to my military son, he would say just buy a new set and I would say no I have the two others but the middle one was my favorite ...well I guess he knew I was too stubborn because he ordered and sent me a whole new 3 piece set. LOL I love that kid but I'm still keeping my eyes open for the one I lost! By the way my son and I do face time on the IPad while we are working around the house and talk about anything and everything...sometimes serious stuff sometimes funny. It's like having a best friend in the room with you, you never know what's going to be the subject next.

My favorite is a Creative Grids 2.5 x 6. I have two of them one for my sewing room and one that travels with my sewing to UFO's, Guild, etc. Last October we had our yearly "LOCK-IN" from 6:00 p.m. Friday to 7:00 a.m. Saturday. My travelling CG ruler went missing. I searched everywhere and everything I took to the lock-in to no avail. In June I was reorganizing my van in preparation for "craft camp" and there was my missing ruler in between the second row bucket seats. So happy it found me again.

I have one just like it and I can't find it. Oh well maybe mine will show up soon. lol

My fav is this size!!! And yes it's lost and I miss it horribly. I've been in 20 QS doing the row by row and still haven't found a replacement. Even the store I where bought some for gifts was out......

caspharm 08-27-2014 03:37 PM

Glad you found it! I try to remember to hang mine up or for the smaller ones, put them in their case (which is actually a case for fishing flies).

Aurora 08-28-2014 05:23 AM

It definitely is not easy to find a CG 2.5 x6 locally. I found my first one at Quilters Day Out, but they have not offered them the last two years. They must sell out as soon as the Quilt Shops get them. But I keep looking and if I find them, I will purchase at least two more.
