I changed my pic today,,,this is a male Screech Owl that was injured. He had a droopy wing and one eye was closed shut and raw. We think he was hit by a car. We brought him to a Wildbird Rehabilitation Person who nutured it back to health as seen in the pic.
Soon he will be released back into the wild..

Aw. He's so sweet. I have an owl that hangs around. Hope he doesn't eat my Chihuahuas but they are gorgeous.

Glad you save the big eyed guy.

That is a wonderful Story! I have owls in the trees in front of my house, but have only seen the owl two times.

Love your story.
I wish the baby owl that flew inside our barn had had this luck. Oh well, he had a good burial.

I heard years ago that owls can pick up little dogs and carry them off. I've had a few fly over and always grab a broom if the little dogs are out.
The are worth saving, as with all non violent critters.

I'm glad you were there to help out!

LOL if u could see how small this little guy really is you would laugh... BUT...I just went to a raptor weekend show at a local Audubon Society..You are right...unbelievable what the bigger owls can capture.

Thanks for saving the Owl. I think they are facinating.

What a gorgeous little owl! A few years back we had a Barred Owl that got hung up in our barbed wire fence. I guess he was catching field mice and got into trouble. We put on heavy leather gloves and managed to get him out of the fence, but his wing was pretty mangled. We took him to a bird sanctuary and they had to amputate the wing...he now lives there and is used in educational programs.

Barred owls are HUGE! Well, compared to a little screach owl LOL. Being able to rescue one of our feathered friends is a blessing. We may not be able to do much, but it still gives us a warm fuzzy feeling inside.
