I am unable to sit in a regular tub due to a long term back injury, so a walk in is best for me. Also tired of always having to take just showers in my walk in shower. |
I've been thinking about them too...the only drawback I can see is having to wait for water to drain before getting out. Someone told me her GM got cold just waiting to drain??? something to think about I guess.

You can also stand and start drying off in the walk in, guess some wait till they can open the door etc. There is a small shelf in back of your headrest to place a towel. |
oh - we would LOVE to have one, but aren't they running about 10K? A little too pricey for our pocketbook. But enjoy yours - let us know how it goes!

Total with install will be just under $8000. Part of the install will include a tile floor as well for the bathroom. There is plumbing, electrical and a carpenter, mine also has a tile person for the tile around the tub on the wall and the floor. Carpenter to patch the hole in the wall to pass the tub thru to the bathroom. My bathroom door is not wide enough to get the tub in that way. |
Maybe someday I can get one.
|
I think you'll love it. My friend likes hers so much she uses it 2-3 times a day. She says her walk in tub helps ease some of her pain.

This tub is a GOOD thing for many, sure it may not be for those who can use a walk in shower, but....I need the jets for my back as I have mentioned a few times before! You can't have jacuzzi jets in a walk in shower. |
Let us know how you like it! I know we are considering one for us when we build. And, I would love for my 83 year old dad to have one!
|
Finally after all this waiting, the contractor will be here this am to start the install. Removal of the old tub, then putting my new one in!
Will be nice once it's all done to have my first spa bath. And, I will be able to get my living room back in order as it's stuffed with everything from one wall of my kitchen, the hall closet etc. |
congrats on your new tub. enjoy it.

Tub is now in, almost done! Tile guy comes on Monday to do the tile around the tub and the floor.
Today I get to start putting the kitchen stuff that is in my living room back into the kitchen, then will do the bathroom stuff and hall closet stuff after the tile is in and grout is dry. |
After all that work you won't want to get out of that tub for a month!

I will take a pic after it's all done. Right now behind the tub is the original insulation when the house was built, concrete board will cover that then tile. Paint color for the walls is called Moonshine - Lowes Olympic paint. |
Maybe the new ones are better but the one my mom has takes forever to drain and she gets cold sitting in it waiting for it to fill up. They had good water pressure but the things takes alot of water. They paid alot of money and it just sits in there.

The room is vented via the house heater, and I can put in a small space heater if needed. Am looking forward to using the jets, they are not hooked up yet. It takes less water than a regular tub, or regular jacuzzi tub. With this tub, you don't fill it to the top of the tub, just over the top jets which are hip level on the seat. |
