I have a piece of iridescent holiday fabric that might do the trick. It is 100% cotton. The back of the insect I am looking at possibly a black lame. Some black tulle on the tips (maybe). The plants in the background will be a number of different greens, blues and yellow prints to match the plant life. I believe it will make a nice wall hanging .

I just saw a large one with black spots on his wings. Beautiful. Not afraid of me either. or my cat when i have her with me. the dragonfly tends to keep flying over her head. teasing I guess.

JuliaSB: Just looked at it again and it is just as pretty or prettier the second time. Are you going to take a little poetic license and move the background blue over a bit?
CarolynJo: I cannot imagine why/how you would suggest it was a Japanese Beetle. I just looked it up and I think you are right. Wow. I am impressed. If it is not then it is it's first cousin. I dug a garden bed last year and found at least a half a dozen. This is the first one I found this year (digging the next bed). I don't usually if I don't know what it is but I did kill that one I found yesterday. Thanks for your info. I am reading all about them. |
Battle Axe, one of my acquaintences was an entomologist. Then life changes pushed her into forensic entomolgy. She fielded a lot of phone calls that could not be discussed at a dinner table. I was fascinated.

Julia, I wouldn't move it over. In art you never put an important thing in the middle of a canvas. You move it over a bit. It is a beautiful picture.
