About 8 yrs. ago I brought a couple of sprigs of Wisteria from my SIL and poked it in the ground around this BIG old dead tree that was in the yard around an ugly shack that is on our property. We were truly amazed at how beautiful it looked the day before yesterday.............and then......

The day before yesterday

It sure was beautiful! Sorry to hear that it's gone. I gather it wasn't on purpose.

My wisteria is more like a vine instead of a tree. If you are interested in having some, I am sure there are babies shooting up. Just PM me. I always have to dig them up so they won't spread too much. Mine is a lavendar color.

Mine doesn't have much of an odor to it. Unlike the white ones which are very fragant.

I also have Trumpet vines which draw hummingbirds which I love.

Did you save some of the starts? I hope you get to start again with it. How pretty it was. I am so sorry that you lost it.

Our last house had an over the gate trellis that had three braided together on the supports on either side. It was the first thing people talked about when they came over for the first time. The scent was intoxicating while it was in bloom.

Looks like the tree holding it rotted away! What a shame! I LOVE wisteria....but can't raise them here. SO sorry that's happened!

Oh, dear.

Will it resprout? I hope it does! You will miss the fragrance and color!

I have honeysuckle vine that I have stumped back many times... and it always returns. I've never grown a wisteria, though. I think it's a bit marginal here, as to the hardiness.
