My son just called to tell me that he finished his last class, took his test, and he is now a Journeyman Carpenter!!! Yay, Travis!!
I'm so proud of him. He works hard and kept with it until he finished. I need to get a quilt made for him! I have the fabric that he helped pick out for him and his girlfriend. He said he would let me know asap about when the graduation ceremony is, late summer he thinks. |
Congratulations to your son and you had better get on making that quilt Mom.
|
Yeah Travis!! Both of my sons are electricians and started out as journeymen. Now my oldest son passed his Masters a couple of years ago and has his own business with his uncle. This is the son that dropped out of school in his junior year! My youngest is a journeyman first class I believe. I know how much work goes into learning all the codes and everything. Good Job Travis!! I imagine carpentry has similar rules and codes to electrical work. They are all construction. My mom's family and my DH's family are all in some form of construction work.
Congrats on a great son!! |
Yay! What an accomplishment! I hope he enjoys his work and has lots of opportunities. You must be so proud.

Congratultions Mom!!! That is a great accomplishment!!!

That is wonderful!!
|
It requires 4 years (I believe) working as an Apprentice carpenter and classroom work. He usually went to a week long class every couple of months.
There are lots of trades that have the same, Apprentice then Journeyman. The next level would be a Master. |
Congratulations :) Thats a Great Guy Quilt!
|
Isn't that wonderful!!! Congrats to you and your son. You have a right to be a proud mommy!!! Isn't it a nice warm fuzzy feeling when things work out for them?

Thanks for the clarification. Different terminology for a similar process.
It's certainly a good trade to have. |
That is so wonderful. Congratulations!!!!!
