Nice size turkey. Will you eat it?

Rhonda 04-25-2009 09:22 AM

Nice turkey!! He must have a good eye!! Are you going to have the tail mounted? My son had my grandson's mounted and it is gorgeous. They fan it out and it looks kinda like a peacock's fan only in browns and blacks and creams. Almost looks like a quilt project!

How many can he shoot in your state? My son is an avid hunter and his daughter is also but she's pregnant right now so I don't know if she will go this year or not. She left her boyfriend standing at the door with a sorry honey it is deer season and she went hunting with her dad! She's almost 19 now and engaged so ...

How old is your son? Does he deer hunt or anything else also?

Vickymomof6 04-25-2009 10:55 AM

My son just turned 13 and this was his first hunt. He can get two turkeys. The season opened today for JR hunters. He is mounting the tail. His Uncle took him out and he got this Tom within the first hour he was out.

He isn't old enough to hunt deer but he will once he hits the age.

We are having turkey for supper.

WOOHOO!!

Can I come for dinner???

BellaBoo 04-25-2009 05:25 PM

Hubby is an avid hunter so I know how hard it is to get a turkey. They out smart most all hunters. :D I grew up with turkey and duck callers practicing year round. To hunters, new callers are like new quilting notions to us.

Cathe 04-25-2009 05:34 PM

Congratulations to him! You got some nice pictures too!

mamatobugboo 04-25-2009 05:47 PM

Nice shot!! All day today my DH has been saying "I sure wish we had turkeys around here", so I showed him your pictures. He's impressed, too, and says  neato.

Nice Turkey! It is Turkey season here also. We owned a country store for 26 years and we were the check in station for all hunting seasons. I miss the hunters and campers. don't miss the hours. Bird hunting is the hardest. If He can get a Turkey, a deer will be no problem when he is older.

Did you check the date on the original post?

MissTreated 11-19-2009 07:18 AM

So? It's still, very cool and some of us missed it.

wvdek 11-20-2009 09:00 AM

This may be an 'old' post, but congrats to your boy.

How did the the turkey taste for dinner? How does the tail feather look mounted and where did you hang it?

Deer season starts here I believe next Monday. Lots of gunfire in the woods already as they sight-in. All the wild turkeys have fled for awhile. Most of the bucks are hiding, too.

Nice shoot!

adriansmom 11-20-2009 09:59 AM

My dh is very impressed!! He says 20-25 lb bird maybe? Anyways we both like it!! He says keep the beard, tail, and spurs. I'm sure your son knows this...just passing it along. Anyways...can I come for dinner too??? WILD TURKEY IS YUMMY!!
