My thrift store sheet squeezed out another project.

I almost gasped with I found a square of my thrifted sheet in the corner. I thought I had used it all up except for a tiny strip. I'm gonna miss that fabric. Anyway, I made this with it. Two years ago or so someone left a Japanese magazine in a waiting room and it looked like a little panty purse. I couldn't tell for sure because I don't read Japanese but I thought what a cute idea and jotted it in my doodle book. Today when I found another scrap, I was looking through my book and remembered I wanted to make one. I drew up the pattern today. You could easily make your own, you know the shape. If you want more specific instructions, just ask. I made 3, after the first one was figured out, it took about 20 minutes to make. **Everyone needs a good pair of panties too - so that is why one has a bow. :)
Not really a quilting project but it does consist of fabric, thread and batting. That is almost quilting to me but I wasn't sure how the rules go if it has to be an actual quilt to post. |
Sounds cute and I will be waiting for a picture.:)

O how difference it is so cute. I would like to make one to just make something different. could you put a tut. on it or send me the pattern.

These are hilarious, cute idea! I want to make one with those ridiculous seams on tight whities. A great christmas idea! They'd be good for hiding toiletries and monthly supplies in a purse or backpack.
Super cute, I'm glad you posted a photo and shared. lol, these are adorable.
so cute. We all want to make them. A tut would be wonderful.
I can't get a picture?? What do I need to do?
Amazing ... What a cute Christmas gift that would make ..Are you going to make a tutorial ?
Thanks so much ! :-) for showing but a Tut would be great of you please
Oh how adorable. Have some teens and not so teens who would love this. Please do a tut. What a fun Birthday or Christmas surprise.
It is just a little hand drawn pattern. I'll be happy to put a tutorial up if that is permitted. Is it ok to do if it isn't a quilt? If it is ok I'll put it up tomorrow - I have to wait till I get to work to scan the pattern as I unplugged my inkjet and my laser printer doesn't scan. Just be forewarned, these are addictive. I cut out 6 more this morning. I like little quick things like this that I can put a gift card in at Xmas or when someone says "It's my birthday" and I didn't know. I can then say "Hey I got something for you". Poof a magical gift waiting in my sewing room to be given.
so cute , you got me .
Too cute. Love to see your tut.
What size fabric did you start with? And what size zipper?? I want to get ready. Every female I know needs one of these!!!!!
So do we have a tut? and if so where is it posted?
Oh, how darn stinkin' cute is that!!!!
The top is 6-1/2" wide. I have a gross of 9" zippers so that is what I'm using so the metal doesn't get in the way of my stitching. But 7" would work. Not that I don't love JoAnns but zippers there are too much money. I buy them from Amazon. I buy from this store all the time. 54 9" zippers for $7.99 and free shipping. That is $.14 a piece versus JoAnns at $2.19 each. Or search Ebay too. They always have zipper deals too. I have a drawer full of zippers and I use what I pull out. It doesn't have to match exactly for a project like this.
It is also about 10" deep - that is double because you cut on a fold. So you need a 7" x 10" scrap or there abouts - a little bigger gives you cutting room. I tried regular batting and fusible batting. Fusible wins hands down. The regular batting was to thick. At least what I had, it was a polyester mid loft. Too thick. A thin warm and natural would work great too but I didn't have any. This is a use what I have kind of project. You need lace too. About 14" per purse. I have someone give me a roll of the lace I was using - it is a big roll and has probably 100's of feet of lace. That is all mine are getting again because that is what I have and I had been wondering what the heck am I gonna use all this one. This works. I didn't write a tutorial yet, but I will. I'll get it posted sometime tomorrow. |
Your panty purses are darling. I will watch for your tube because I like quick projects that I can actually finish. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for the info....eagerly awaiting the tute!! Haven't done zippers so that's a bit scary! You used metal ones, not plastic, right? These are perfect for Christmas coming up!! They are SO cute!!!
