Napkins,

I have a ton of napkins, somesome cotton, poly, they are about 16in square. what can I do with them. They are all plain, no design, there must be something out there that needs to be made from them?
Thanks for any ideas you have.

How about a table runner or place mats??? Or cut them up and make a lap quilt. Fabric is fabric where i come from!!

I vote for making quilts with them. Maybe use them for picnics or spreading on the ground to sit on. They should hold up well and wash and dry well too.

I agree...fabric is fabric. A local designer fabric and upholstering shop was relocating. I walked in and was told everything on the back wall on tables and in boxes was FREE!!! They gave me a couple of very large bags because my eyes lit up and they knew they had the right person to clear out their excess. What I found was literally stacks of tapestry, silks, satins, ginghams, tartans, in all decorator colors! Lordy, I was in hog heaven! Now I'm making totes, table runners, throws, hats, bed runners and yes, quilts with my huge stash! Just drop any boundaries in your head and have fun!

I have made quilts with them.

I would use them since fabric napkins are the best.

I vote for applique. What a fun and easy quilt; your blocks are already cut

Clarice29 03-10-2015 01:25 PM

How about piecing then into cute aprons?

nanacc 03-10-2015 06:52 PM

What would be wrong with piecing them for table cloths, adding a pretty border or embroidery?

I vote for sewing two at a time together like a pillow, stuffing them with batting scraps and donating them to a shelter for cats and small dog beds. Everyone talks about dog beds, but cats love soft things to lay on.

I agree with nanacc.

Just adding my vote to using them in your quilting. They work fine, as others have said. Use them as is for large blocks of color or cut them down into quarters or smaller to suit your pattern. Have fun!!

Make them into tote bags.

I like to put a design in the corner and offer them as a basket liner.
Usually around a loaf of tea bread.
