Prayers in the air

Been there, done that -- NOT a piece of cake!! BUT I had mine done over 22 yrs ago BEFORE they started doing it laproscoptic.....THAT procedure is a piece of cake. I have a 6" scar!!! He's in my prayers, too!

My Sister had hers out in the 70's and she has the big scar too. i worry about the lovely germs in the hospitals these days that can do you in. not the surgery so much.

I had mine taken out about 7 yrs ago...they intended to do it with lazers, but mine was a mess and they ended up cutting. Still wasn't too bad tho. The surgeon did a great job....hardly notice the long scar and I recovered quickly. He'll do great but prayers are still going up from here!

I had mine done in the 70's have a huge scar partly because they ended p doing an exploratory. They thought I had stomach cancer. I didn't. I had pancreatis because I waited too long on the gall bladder.

Ten years later I had another surgery and the girl across from me had the laporostic type done on her gall bladder. She was feeling wonderful hours after the surgery. Up all over the room, walking down halls, etc. She went home the next morning, while I was stuck for a week!

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your son. No matter how major or minor an operation is, it is still invasive surgery and no picnic!

My 30 yr old niece just had this surgery in October, she went home that afternoon.... We had her up and walking around that evening.... nothing strenuous for a couple of weeks. She had images of being waited on hand and foot... NOT!!!! LOL meals yes, drinks no... the doc said she should get up and move around frequently, much to her dismay :wink: We even let her fold her own laundry after a couple of days, we put it away. LOL Laprascopy is wonderful!!! Prayers being said that your DS's surgery goes the same as hers!!! :D:D:D

this is odd, my post about my Son got into my previous posting. i searched and searched and happened to look in this one again.
my back still isn't well. they won't really tell me when it will heal either. i do have osteoporosis now too. i'm sure that doesn't help. plus i'm old!!!
my DIL just called and said they may not do surgery. he is in a lot of pain but i know sometimes they don't remove the gall bladder, just send the patient home to pass them. ouch!!!

I got pancreatitis, a gallstone came out of gallbladder and lodge in my pancreas and caused the pancreatitis, had levels as high as an acoholic, should have been in lots of pain, I had no pain and I don't drink anything alcohol. They put me out blew it out with air, on a strict diet for 2 weeks until surgery, in the mean time another got out and they pushed it through, I had to spend the night in the hospital on antibiotics. I couldn't bend over for 6 weeks. Been fine ever since.
I hope your back gets better and hope they remove your DS gallbladder, only sure cure for it.

I had a bulging disc on L5 with degenerative disc disease elsewhere and it was unbelievably painful. Chronic pain was the worst until I had a discectomy. The area is still weak but I know the signs now and take care. Of course sitting for long periods is NOT a good thing - HELLO! I'm a quilter - duh! They were going to try me on therapy too but that was not an option (I waited too long to go to the doc).

Yes, therapy is painful but if it helps loosen those muscles, strengthens your frame, it can make you feel better. I also got acupuncture and that was awesome.

When mine acts up, I stick an ice pack down my shorts (sounds awful but ice helps me better than heat)
