Necchi Machine
 

I have acquired a Necchi machine, 536FB model and has another number #10534. It sews very well, however, the knob that drops the feed dogs seems to be frozen. It will not move at all. The knob has a screw in the side of it and I don't know what that is for, except maybe to oil it. Would appreciate any help anyone can offer so that I can solve this problem. Thanks, Lucy

Thanks for the info. I went to that site but they only give info about Necchi's that were made in Italy. I believe they were called the SuperNova. My machine was made in Japan. I put a post on the Antique sewing site here but could not find it when I went in to see if anyone had answered it. At one time, Lostn51 on that site would give info about any machines if he had the info. I don't know where else to look. Thanks for answering my post. I really appreciate your time. Lucy

The knob is no doubt not frozen. There is a part under the machines that seems to gum up - you can heat that part with a hair dryer and it will dissolve the dried up oil. Then oil it with Tri-Flo oil.

I don't know what your part looks exactly like but it might look something like this one from my old Domestic machine - there may be a picture of a Necchi on QB in the vintage sewing machine shop if you go into search but here is the feed dog drop from my Domestic:

You probably already tried going both ways...I inherited a Necchi 524FB and I spent a lot of time looking for a lever, when I finally pulled out the manual, discovered the knob, then I was trying turn the knob the wrong way!
