Thank you, everyone, for the information.
Prism, I did order a one-pound bag, which will arrive on November 14th. I'll have to let everyone know later how well this worked, as I am having a complete knee replacement on the 7th. I don't suppose I will be up to washing pillowcases for a while. LOL It will be nice to know that all those fine pillowcases that my mom never used and was saving for a special occasion will finally be used. Which begs the question, "why do we save things for a special occasion?" It is kind of sad actually. |
I just read your last statement and you're so right. We need to enjoy these things. I'm the same way about my Gram's diamonds. I wear them daily and enjoy them and have Gram close to me.

If, for some reason, the yellow doesn't come out with the treatment suggested maybe you could cut out the embroidery part (is it on the hemmed part of the case?) and applique it to a new pillow case either by hand or machine. That way you could still enjoy the beauty of the hand work.

Years ago the person that restored old dolls and dresses told me to use foaming denture leaner.
Dip the dresses while it is foaming. |

Restoration--works well in the wash tub or the washing machine--but I always opt for wash tub with vintage fabrics.

mac- my very favorite product is called Retro-Clean. It is fabulous for old linens and quilts!! I love the stuff. I know Ebay sells it, also they have a website. Probably other places as well.
And it doesn't harm fabric. I've used a ton of the stuff. |
