Need Help to Find a Pattern for Post-Mastectomy Drain Pouches

Hoping that you wonderful ladies can help with a special request. My dear SIL has been diagnosed with breast cancer and has asked me to make her some kind of "apron" (for want of a better word) that would fit under her shirt with 4 pockets/pouches that can hold her drain tubes out of sight. She compared it to the work belt that you can buy at Home Depot, but turned inward so the pockets would be against the skin. I would love to make something for her that will be discreet and also make her feel feminine and special, but I need some help to find a pattern. I know you all are really creative and wonderfully helpful, so I'm asking for your help. Also, if you have an encouraging story to share to let her know that there is hope, please add that, and I will pass your stories along to her. Thank you so much for your time and thoughts!

I wonder if you bought the 2 - 3 inch wide soft waist band elastic and used flannel for the pockets if that would work and be comfortable to wear?

I like the idea of the soft waist band elastic and flannel. That should be really comfortable for her. I'll definitely keep that in mind!

website

Here is a website to purchase a shirt that is made for post-mastectomy patients who go home with drains. Maybe it will give you ideas as to what works best. I have it on good authority from a breast cancer fighter, who has has numerous surgeries that she wears this post op even when she doesn't have drains!!! Hope this helps!
