I am soooo happy to have my first laptop but I need some help! Here I am typing merrily along and suddenly the print enlarges or disappears completely or messages get sent before I'm finished, etc., etc. I know it's because of the sensitive mouse - it's the kind you tap once with your index finger and the clock appears, tap twice with your little finger and thumb and you find yourself staring at your control page - that is if the space between your finger and thumb is more than 1" but less than 3". Etc., etc. Okay, I made up some of this up but hopefully got the point across. The guides that I've seen are written in a code I don't understand - Is there a really simple guide out there in the world? IT JUST HAPPENED AGAIN. THE PRINT IS NOW SO SMALL I CAN'T READ IT. OH PLEASE! SOMEONE TAKE PITY AND POINT ME IN A HELPFUL DIRECTION. THANKS

I got an optical wireless mouse for mine!! Just do not get along with touchpad mice!!

You mean like PCs for Dummies, but for a mouse? I'm not so sure.
I can tell you that if you go into My Computer (or just Computer, if you have Vista), then into Control Panel and click on Mouse, you can change the settings. Or just click on Help and type in Mouse. |
http://www.retrevo.com/samples/Asus-Laptop-manuals.html has user guides. What model is it/
Have you looked in your control panel settings to see if you can regulate it there? |
You might try going under your control panel and resetting the mouse sensitivity.

Both my kids have laptops and I can't use them. Same reason.

I had the same problem, bought myself a wireless mouse on ebay ($9) and turned off the touchpad. (Mine is a netbook, not a laptop, so smaller, and I kept getting everything jumping about) I also bought a small bean bag backed lap tray for said netbook and mouse and it's much more comfortable. No overheated legs, a surface for the mouse, and a tray that sits at a comfortable angle.

I have that problem when I'm not using my wireless mouse. It's a lifesaver and worth the $15 I spent on it.

Just got a laptop yesterday and hope I learn to like it! Still using regualar PC!!!

I love, love, LOVE my laptop, but it took some practice for me to type with my fingers "up" instead of "flat." When I typed "flat" the "ham" part of my right thumb would lightly touch the mouse pad and the next thing I knew, everything I just typed was gone. Blah!
What I'm saying is, it might very well be just the way you are positioning your hands, and try being mindful of it. |
I could type all day with my old laptop and its touch pad. Ya just gotta know when to put your thumb down on the pad at the right moment. Takes practice.

I bought a USB mouse to use but still activated the touchpad when I didn't want to. I tried setting the laptop to disable the touchpad when a mouse was plugged in but then the mouse doesn't work properly. I just try not to let my wrist hang down when typing.
