need help on ruffler

Having problem with my ruffler attachment on the Janome 15000. I'm assuming most rufflers are about the same but....... maybe not. Any suggestions. I just can't get it to work; its attached, but it won't ruffle. I need to get this pillowcase made. Made one in class, but now I'm home and of course it doesn't want to cooperate. Thanks for responses. Have looked at the video on You Tube, but not connecting with it. I am stumped.

You sure you got it connected correctly. Recheck the directions. They are more tricky to mount than a walking foot. I haven't used mine in probably 2 decades.

My ruffler has a little arm that has to fit over the same place as the walking foot. (Don't know what it's called.) Maybe take it off and try putting it back on again. (Like you haven't already done that 10 times...)

There are slots on the top front of the ruffler. If it is set on "0" it won't ruffle. Lift the bar and put it in the slot that works for you.

I hope you have a "book" to go to. There are many settings to know about.
My ruffler had put on thousands of miles until the blue steel piece that pushes the fabric into the needle broke. I got another one.
Are you trying to ruffle more than one layer? If so, I would baste them together first.

As someone said the arm of the ruffler should be over the screw for the needle? like when you put on the walking foot. Also make sure it isn't set on zero. Do you have the fabric going thru the right place? We used to play with my moms machine when I was little. She had all kinds of attachments. She didn't even know it was a ruffler. Hers is 70 years old and looks almost exactly the same as mine.
Aslo you could call the store of go in and have them re- demo theirs for you. Good luck.

Well, i still can't get it to work and yes, I have done all that is mentioned above (I think). Actually, did take it to shop and she couldn't get it to work either. Paid a lot of money for that attachment. I am really blue about this as I wanted to work on that pillowcase. Guess I will have to put it aside and go on to something else. Thanks again.

I ruffle by putting two rows of basting stitches and pulling to gather. Never used a ruffling foot, although I think seeing them in use they are great.

Got a replacement for the ruffler. Worked great; now I can finish my pillowcase. Got the band ruffled, now all I have to do is do a french seam, iron it and it will be finished.

You could try looking on line for videos or directions for using this attachment. I don't have the same machine but have found many other videos and directions this way. Also, check the machine manufacturer's website. I know that several other companies have lots of information on line, including the use of specific presser feet. I see you are finished now but perhaps this post may be useful if you have any future issues with machine accessories.
