Need an idea favors for a baby boy

A second baby is on the way to dear friends and it is a boy!
I made the shower for baby #1, a girl, and I understand the second baby gets a Sprinkle.
Any cute ideas for favors for a baby boy?

All I can think of is cupcakes with blue sprinkles.

I saw a cute one it was a packet of seeds with a saying like plant these seeds and watch them bloom like _____?'s baby

I guess times have changed but there was never a baby shower after the first baby. I had a diaper pounding with my second given to me by my church. One friend had a frozen meal stock up for her third. LOL. So much more helpful then new onesies. My DD second baby, her friends wanted to give a shower. I suggested instead of baby gifts not needed, if guests wanted to give a gift bring a child's book. DD was thrilled.

The tea light idea is very cute, Up North.

Everybody at work has had a baby shower for the first & the second. So far, the excuse given was, well, she didn't work here when she had the first one. But the last baby shower, given to someone who said she didn't want one because she already had one from us for her first baby, was called a Sprinkle. I had never heard that term before -- I thought they made it up!

Up North -- my previous place of employment made a big deal about someone who was having her second baby after 9 or so years. So she never got a baby shower. I made her a quilt anyway, even though she worked in a different office than I did & I didn't know her very well. But when one of the doctors in the group got pregnant with her second, guess what happened? Yep, she got a baby shower! People who make not much more than minimum wage giving to a doctor! Aargh!

Anyway, times have changed, haven't they? If it gives you joy, Dotty, to do this for someone, go for it. Life is too short. I have seen small baby bottles filled with candies. That's about it. I like Up North's idea.

Snakes and snails and puppy dog tails?

This baby is a boy, so the adoring relatives don't want him in pink onesies. I made the first baby shower and it was co-ed.
It was great! I love the tealights and they can be mailed to those who can't come. There will be gifts for the big sister I bet. I have already looked for anatomically correct dolls. My daughter had one when her little brother arrived. Much loved, both the doll and the brother. I think this couple will surely need a double stroller!

What month is the Sprinkle?

Gave my niece a shower and cohosted with her girlfriend. I was not told until the day of that it was a 'Snoopy" themed shower. Her mother, my sister, didn't tell me. I would've made a Snoopy quilt and diaper stacker. The girlfriend paid for the invites and we tallied and split the costs. That was 10 years ago and she's having another one. I won't be there but will get a gift card. Another "Snoopy" but boyfriend wants Scooby Do. It will be a couples this time and all the siblings will be there. Fine by me. What is a "sprinkle" other than a topping on a cake?

I love the sprinkle idea. one thing I know people are making is a sprinkle cup. it's a cone made of fabric to put over his little weinie for diaper changes, so the changer doesn't get sprinkled. He will need boy stuff, just like his sister needed girl stuff. Maybe ask everyone to bring a bag of diapers, and then if they want to add to it, it's at their own discretion. Onsies, socks, pants, t-shirts homemade spit up rags for over the shoulder. Colored M&M's or Jellybeans in colored tulle on a blue pencil in the boys name would be cute. or get blue pens with his name on it in blue with jelly beans.

What is a Sprinkle?

My daughter was just given a shower and they did the tealight thing. Also the people giving the shower bought assorted sizes of white onesies and permanent coloring pens. Every guest was asked to decorate a onesie. There was no contest for this but it could easily have been a contest with a prize for the winner.

Thanks for your ideas. I will do the tealights. We haven't had any snow, but we could get hit in late March.
Baby is due early May. Hmmmmm..... !

I raised 3 boys, and I have 5 grandsons. I've been tinkled on, but sprinkles go on cookies, cupcakes, etc. So, in reference to a baby shower, what is a Sprinkle? I have no idea. We would love to know.

Look on Pinterest....never fails!

When it is not raining hard thus a shower it could be just sprinkling! It is just a little bit of rain =small shower

lynnie 01-02-2016 04:58 PM

it's a smaller baby shower, not all the bells and whistles.

We used empty baby food jars for my daughter-in-laws shower, decorated with blue ribbons and filled with Q-tips. That was many years ago and I still use mine at my make-up table.
